With 16 chapters nationally, the NWU works to advance economic and working conditions of writers -- lobbying for legislation, initiating lawsuits, educating writers on their rights, networking, organizing picket lines, publicizing viable alternatives to unfair practices by both the traditional and Internet publishers, and by mobilizing members to fight for their collective self-inte …
We are passionate writers looking to meet other passionate writers. Our group loves to have fun and our atmosphere is warm, welcoming, playful - at times even silly. At the same time, when we get down to it, we offer sincere feedback, trying to improve each other's work. We believe that to give good feedback we have to tell the writer what worked well first, what moved us, what inspired us, what made us want to punch something or someone. Then, we talk about what can be improved. The environment …

Writers mostly write. Besides writing, the second most important act is submitting. I'd like to meet once a month with a group of writers who are submitting their work. During this meeting we can exchange ideas about motivation, where to submit certain kinds of work and the mechanics of submitting material. We can map out strategies for submitting work and make committments to the group about the process.

This group was started in 2003 with the intent ot providing a caring mutually-supportive community of writers of all levels, from beginner to professional. The format of the meeting is for each member to produce no more than two typewritten, double-spaced pages (often responding to a prompt provided by the leader), and to bring enough copies for all members of the meetup. For the first half-hour we read each other's copy and make comments. Then we go around and deal with each writer in turn g …

This is a group for serious writers whom are already working on a spiritual book, screenplay, memoir or journal, or are ready to begin one. Let's meet weekly to create a spiritual community where we will support, write and share the journey together. At the beginning of each meeting I will lead us in a short, guided meditation so that we can tap into our inner guidance for clarity and wisdom as we write, which always makes the process that much easier! The future of content on the web – content that gets discovered, creates value, and builds audiences – is not cheap text cranked out by content farms. It's high quality, editorial and entertainment created by experienced journalists and passionate bloggers. The future is a social media world, where humans are the arbiters of quality, and search algorithms reward sharing and human readability. The Internet means publishers should no longer be confined to the limits of in-office staff, nor should …

A good writing group gives inspiration, motivation, community, perspective, and of course, constructive criticism. Unfortunately, groups often get bogged down in squabbles and ennui. Bananafish is a series of writing groups around the idea that it's worth a few bucks ($50 per month in this case) to hire a writer/teacher to handle the logistics, moderate the meetings, …
