We are passionate writers looking to meet other passionate writers. Our group loves to have fun and our atmosphere is warm, welcoming, playful - at times even silly. At the same time, when we get down to it, we offer sincere feedback, trying to improve each other's work. We believe that to give good feedback we have to tell the writer what worked well first, what moved us, what inspired us, what made us want to punch something or someone. Then, we talk about what can be improved. The environment …

Writers mostly write. Besides writing, the second most important act is submitting. I'd like to meet once a month with a group of writers who are submitting their work. During this meeting we can exchange ideas about motivation, where to submit certain kinds of work and the mechanics of submitting material. We can map out strategies for submitting work and make committments to the group about the process.

This group was started in 2003 with the intent ot providing a caring mutually-supportive community of writers of all levels, from beginner to professional. The format of the meeting is for each member to produce no more than two typewritten, double-spaced pages (often responding to a prompt provided by the leader), and to bring enough copies for all members of the meetup. For the first half-hour we read each other's copy and make comments. Then we go around and deal with each writer in turn g …

Let's meet weekly to create a spiritual community where we will support, write and share the journey together. At the beginning of each meeting I will lead us in a short, guided meditation so that we can tap into our inner guidance for clarity and wisdom as we write, which always makes the process that much easier! Days and times are flexible, and will be cr …

This group is aimed at writers in Suffolk County who are looking for a group to work on their current projects and work toward publishing. When I was looking for members to join an established writing group of which I am part, I found there were many people who wanted a group for the beginning or novice writer. I started this group for those who might be intimidated by authors they feel are further along in their writing. I will be facilitating the group by giving writing assignments and exercises to those who would like them. I will also guide the group in their critiques which can be helpful to new writers and new groups in gener …

This group offers a forum for writers to learn and exchange practical information they need to get published. Members gather to ask questions and give advice about every stage of the publishing process, from writing a manuscript to querying an agent to negotiating a contract. While there are many groups for writers out there, most focus exclusively on the craft of writing, while failing to address the practical information that publishers really care about and that can make or break a book deal. …

Originally started as a critique group in 2009 it has grown into more than that. We do not believe in writing by committee but we do believe a group of individuals that are dedicated to challenging each other and working collaboratively will produce better fiction than each of us would do on our own. We meet on Thursday nights in Sandy Hook, typically, and occasionally on weekends. We are looking for fiction writers who are serious about their craft. You don't need a ton of experience, but you d …
