No degree of separation. No fame. Just writers writing. Authentic. Whimsical. Vulnerable. "It's all true, none of it's true, don't ask." We often spend too much time thinking about writing instead of writing. Our group meets to spend time writing. We pick a prompt (phrases, pictures) and a time period of a few minutes (5-10 minutes is normal). For that time period, we write on that prompt, using paper and pen. We then pass the Talking Stick (or mic) around for anyone who wants to read. We don't …

Wanted: A core group of writers experienced in the art of reading, writing, and critiquing. Looking for other serious, committed, published or publishable literary writers who also want or need the structure of a group--or a little push--to keep writing, submitting, and publishing. A writing degree certainly helps--everyone is at the same base level of knowledge, if not skill, but isn't a requirement. We are a group of poets, fiction, and nonfiction writers, most of whom have at least one writin …

The Santa Fe Gay Writers' Workshop is in its planning stages and uploading website material at this time. This is not a writing critique group, but one in which gay men can tell their stories in their own unique ways, with short pieces shared followed by discussion. As the group evolves, we will host gay authors for readings and dialogue as well. The SFGWW will also develop special writing events for participants, including poetry, short story and essay readings by those willing to share their w …
There's lots of great poets and readings in Santa Fe. Although I'm not a poet I've hosted poetry readings with featured poets for the past 12 years. People are always asking me what is going on around town and Meetup is a great venue to list the events and strengthen the poetry community.
The purpose of this group is to address social and interactive opportunities for gay men and lesbians. My intention is to include activities that are Inside; Outside, and About The Albuquerque region. Meet-Up already has a vibrant Outdoors group, but there appears to be limited listing for social gatherings of a less strenuous sort. During the past two years I've organized a variety of activities and events for another New Mexico group including: Field Trips to The Mineral Museum in Socorro and …

Do you have something you need to say to the world? Op-eds are a powerful venue in which to express your opinions and ideas. While op-eds are short (500-800 words), they are demanding to write, requiring being informed about one's topic and position, persuasiveness, and an ability to communicate to a public audience. The purpose of this meet-up is to form a collegial environment in which to tackle the elements of good op-ed writing. Togehther we will identify the components of the genre, evalu …

This is a group for you to meet other teleworkers in town; discuss the habits that make you productive; rant about the isolation; then go back home and hide again.
