D.C. Freelancers, 3rd Sunday, 12:30PM to 2PM FREE Networking
I just got back from an amazing year in Edinburgh, Scotland. While there, I was a member of a creative writing group where I met some fantastic writers. I want to start a similar group in the DC area because I know we have many great writers in the area as well. So here we are. The group brings together writers of all ages and from all walks of life. Whether you are a new writer or have published, all are welcome. If writing is your life, search for a group no longer. The format will be writer …
This is a group for writers who want to grow in the craft and help others grow. This group is dedicated to writers of all genres. If you need a push to pick up your pen or laptop, we are the group for you. The goal is to remind writers why they started writing in the first place, and why they still write. This is a safe haven and learning environment for writers. For those who are scared to show their work, I encourage you to join this group. This is a nurturing group. Although honest, th …

We are a group of writers who enjoy imaginative, perhaps even offbeat, fiction. Our goal is to write well--or at least better--but with the freedom to make mistakes. We are not here to necessarily produce polished, publishable fiction, but to rather to carve out a space where writers can experiment and have fun in a relaxed and supportive environment. Speculative fiction--which includes science fiction, horror, steampunk, dystopian fiction, and fantasy genres--allows writers of fiction an oppor …

Are you committed to writing? We are looking for serious wordsmiths to join our critique group located in Montgomery County, Maryland. We meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 7pm in Olney, MD, at the Harris Teeter. Our meetings are about two hours in length. We have writers of different experience levels working in speculative, young adult, and dark fiction. We try to include a writing prompt at the end of every meeting.
I'm an aspiring author. I intend to publish soon (fingers crossed)...but in the meantime, I need to finish my book. I sincerely need to connect with other serious-minded fiction and non-fiction writers in Mitchellville, MD--to keep me focused. I discovered a few writers' groups in Virginia and lots in DC but want to stay in the MD suburbs so I don't have to venture too far from home on the weekends or after a long day's work. I'm serious about my craft and I'd like to meet with 7 to 9 folks twi …

We meet every first and third Wednesday evening of the month to exchange critiques of our writing. This is a group for dedicated writers of young adult and juvenile genres working towards publication.
There are no upcoming Meetups.
I decided to start this group because I want to meet fellow aspiring writers looking for a circle of support, a safe place to share their writing and try out their works of memoir, novel, fiction, etc. to a supportive audience who can provide constructive feedback. Any aspiring writers in the D.C. area are welcome to join.
Are you working on a non-fiction book, article, script or blog? Are you a fiction author inspired by factual events? Join the Arlington Creative Non-Fiction Writers for constructive critiques and networking opportunities! In addition to constructive feedback, we're also here to support each other in researching, writing, selling and publicizing our projects. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. Join us at the Corner Bakery (2111 Wilson Blvd) just steps from the Courthouse Metro!
Our group consists of writers at all levels of writing experience. Our meetings are held on the first Saturday (at 11:00 a.m.), the third Saturday (at 11:00 a.m.), and the fourth Tuesday (at 7:00 p.m.) of each month. Even though our meetings take place at restaurants, there is never any pressure to order food. We usually have about 5-10 people in attendance at each meeting. Hope you can join us soon!
We are a fun and supportive group of writers living in and around Northern Virginia. All skill levels and all types of writing are represented: novels, poetry, lyrics, short stories, non-fiction, children's stories, and more! We meet every Wednesday at 7pm in a room at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. Meetings generally last about 2 hours and are either sessions designed to provide feedback on members' work, or a workshop session aimed at a specific element of writing. Check the Calenda …
Meet other local writers and offer one another feedback in a relaxed environment. Members bring at least one hard copy of their work in completed first drafts of stories (both fictional and non-fictional and everything in between). Someone in the group (not the writer) will read the story aloud. Stories should be no longer than about 2,000 words (about 8 pages) and can be as short as a fraction of a page as long as it feels complete. The workshop will meet for two hours, approximately. There is …
The Washington DC Write to Publish Group is unlike most writers’ groups which focus on critiquing each other’s work. Instead this group is dedicated to the "business side" of writing and educate authors (and would be authors) on what they can expect as they go from finished project to available for sale. Much of what is covered in these seminars can also be found online here: http://www.write2publish.blogspot.c

The “sessions” generally are done as a lecture with plenty of Q&A. They are …

We are a group of writers from the Baltimore area who meet weekend mornings to work on our projects. Please note: this is not a critique or share group. Nor do we offer writing exercises or workshop-type activities. We simply meet to work on our ongoing projects in the company of fellow writers. So if you could benefit from the discipline and motivation of a writing group, join in! We try to keep to a regular schedule, but days/locations may vary from time to time. Sign up for updates on weekly …
We are an established writing critique group looking to add a few new members. This group is for writers of literary fiction only, whether that be novel segments or short stories. We meet on the first Sunday of the month (unless it's a major holiday) in D.C. and critique two to three stories that have been passed out and read ahead of time. We're a dedicated group of writers who have been meeting for three years, so we are cautious about bringing in new members. We'll want to meet you and see ho …
