Hello again -
My thanks to the patient and generous folks who showed up for our kickoff meeting. Despite my appalling tardiness, the conversation was fruitful...
With so many interests and "skill levels" possible, a consensus emerged that networking - in a relaxed atmosphere - might be the best way to acknowledge our common interests and allow for folks interested in various specialties to find each other.
Words that were used at the kickoff meeting that really helped me were "community" and "interaction". With the goal of encouraging each other to write more, we decided on an informal vibe for now. No pressure (commitments, quotas, deadline-driven participation, expectations), no hierarchy - more of a laid-back conversation or workshop of peers.
(It is certainly not our intention to replace any other organized meetings already taking place.)
I propose using the word "klatch".
The time slot for this meeting in April will be three hours - but don't panic.
Show up when you wish, or when you can, and leave when you're ready.

It was suggested that the atmosphere of our meeting place will have a clear impact. (Not that the place we met was particularly chaotic, in my opinion...)
I'll continue to check with places that won't be "too" far away - which is a challenge, considering many members aren't on the mainland, and our first meeting was attended by members from Palm Bay and Rockledge. Should we try a pizza joint? Know of a pub that would be somewhat quiet in the afternoon?

The weekend time slot (like any day) will be inconvenient for some of you... but it was suggested that it's beneficial if our minds are safely out of "work mode." Again, "make an offer."
