“ We will meet in the cafe area again, outside if good weather. For those that haven't met me. Look for the short David Spade-looking guy with a cafe mocha :) Also, my phone number is 864-770-3263 if you have trouble finding the group or the venue. ”
Hello Writing Enthusiasts!
We are really starting to roll along now with several successful meetings already in the books! As we do every Saturday, we will continue to talk shop about our latest writing projects, what you like to read/write, and discussion on submissions/critiques related to our associated yahoo group. Plus any other fun topics that pop up. Also, I have taken in all feedback from the March Sat meeting regarding our partner yahoo group and posted it below.
SYNOPSIS: Feedback received at the March Sat meeting regarding the yahoo group.
The Good - Everyone agrees that it is pretty easy to post your own work and download others work from the FILES section of the yahoo group.
The Bad - Several have issues with how to send a critique back to the author without it being sent to everyone in the group. The original idea was for the author of a posted work to create a topic under MESSAGES. Then everyone critiquing may send a reply back to the author. The issue is that the default setting for a reply is to the whole group.
So, we will try the following simple critique system instead.
1. Post your work in the FILES section as normal. Choose the default option to notify the group with an email that a new work has been posted.
CHANGE: No need to create topic for post in MESSAGES section
2. Members will download work to read and critique from FILES section
3. When ready to send critique to author, go to MEMBERS section, locate author?s profile, click on ?Send Message? to send email directly to them (no one else will see it)
At this point, any back and forth communication between the author and the member who sent the critique will be private using their own email addresses.
Thanks for all the feedback! Any more ideas are always welcome as we continue to make the yahoo group an easy-to-use and constructive part of our Writer?s group. If you are a member of our Writer's group and haven't joined the yahoo group as well, you may email me for an invite at bmbwrite4life@yahoo.com
Happy writing!
