Suffolk County Writers Workshop 2
|
This is a spin-off of the original Suffolk County Writers Workshop. Like the original, S.C. Writers Workshop 2 is a group of fiction writers who get together once-a-month to critique each others work. Essentially, we discuss what we like about a piece, and what we think can be improved. The difference: we meet on a Monday. The emphasis is on nurture: how one writer can help another via thoughtful comments and suggestions. Everyone's manuscripts (2,500 words max) are traded via email prior to the meeting, then printed out and "marked up" with comments and suggestions. If you're a fiction writer looking for a close, ongoing appraisal of your work, you'll probably get a kick out of this meeting. Every genre of novel and short story writing is welcome. The next meeting is 7 p.m, Monday, June 9 at Starbucks in Oakdale (4577 Sunrise Highway, Oakdale, NY 11769, (631) 218-3179).

What's New?
-
"Hi, I just recently started writing again - it has been awhile since I have had any motivation. I hope that meeting with new people with great views & opinions will help me continue with one of my passions."
-
"Steve from West Hempstead"
-
"Hi, I'm a working writer looking to make some changes. I'm really interested in finding new avenues of expression and look forward to sharing with like minded individuals to see how they do it. It already feels good just doing this. "
-
"Hi! I've always loved writing, but need discipline to get me to sqeeze it into my insane life. This sounds like perfection- consistency without the pressure of a formal class. I'm looking forward to meeting like -minded individuals."
-
"Hi...Being a part of this group will keep me more disciplined about writing. I write a little bit of everything: poetry, short stories, essays, non-fiction articles (published once!), and started a few novels...hoping to finish one someday... "
-
"Hi Gang. I won't be able to make this meeting as I will be in D.C. and Chantilly, VA for work. I look forward to meeting you all at the next meeting. Thanks for everything, Joe. See you soon."
