Rockland Authentic Writing Group
|
The Rockland Authentic Writing Group follows a PARTICULAR PROCESS of writing and sharing indigenous to only itself. One of the more powerful ways of experiencing one's muse in a non-judgemental atmosphere, we meet every other week to support one another in our writing process, giving and getting feedback for our in-the-moment work. Unlike typical writing groups, feedback is offered to writer ("Narrator") on an affirmational basis, which has the possibility of creating an opening for both the writer and the listener. This approach, part of the process, is less likely to stifle our muse, rather open ourselves more to the well within us. Meetings include writing, sharing stories, and feedback. Writers are never required to read or feedback on work. Please note that this is not a therapy group, though sometimes emotional healing is known to occur (optional, of course....) In order to become a member, it is necessary to e-mail the RAWG Organizer (Marianne) for specific RAWG Guidelines. No other qualifications are necessary to be a part of the group but willingness. See About This Meetup for more specific information.

"Hello! I would like to be a part of this group. It is my desire to learn more about myself through writing and expressing myself as an artist through this medium. Hope to meet you!"
-
"Marianne, I'd like to talk with you or email you, but don't know how. My eaddress is gladysleibner@hotmail.com and my c ell number is 845-641-0779. When do meeting usually take place? How long do they last [approximately, of course]? I don't always have access to a car, but I saw there were people in Spring Valley and Nyack and I would like to know how to contact them and ask to join them. I am looking forward to working with a wonderful group of writers. Thank you for organzing this group"

-
" I have always loved writing. My first passion is poetry. My dream is to be a published author. Writing is outlet for me where you can be anything and be anywhere."
-
"i am an artist who yearns to move past the blocks that occur when the "judge" arrives in the studio even before I do. having reading the guidelines, it looks like an environment for kicking up the muse while kicking out the judge. "
-
"Wow, thanks for noticing and for saying so! I really like that we've all been doing a little bit of processing about the writing experience, and the places in our lives that take our to our "stories". Since the meeting itself has somewhat of a rigid structure (there, I said it myself!), it's really great to be able to connect just as people along the way. Back at you, Giovanna, for sticking with it. You are SUCH a part of the group, and your story about "holes" is still ringing in my heart."
-
"Thank you for your creative leadership Marianne! Gio"
-
"hey, I love writing, especially poetry, and trying to get back into memoir. I write more around others so I'm interested in this group"
-
This is a poem by Mary Oliver (and a test to see if this works!). This poem continues to hit home on so many levels. Please feel free to send in an Authentic Writing piece for sharing!

"RAWG'rs stepping into the unknown...."
-
"Hello. I haven't been artistic since college (it feels like, although secretly I do doodle, and sing in the shower of course)..and feel like a change. Thanks! "
-
"Hello Rockland writers. A professional physician by day, I am also a traveler and scuba diver. I am interested in integrating writing with my activities as a way to convey my experiences to others. I would be interested in attending your next meet"
