Friday, March 13th, from 4-6, award winning author Jack Riggs will be signing books and talking about his latest novel from Random House/Ballantine, THE FIREMANS WIFE. Set between the South Carolina Low country, and the North Carolina mountains in 1970, The Firemans Wife…is about a love triangle. Much of the state is suffering through a drought, conditions for wildfires are at their peak and the heat is unbearable. It is a dangerous time for firemen, especially one with an unhappy wife.

NC Writers Network Executive Director Ed Southern will discuss and sign copies of the new book he edited, Voices of the American Revolution in the Carolinas. This story of the American Revolution—told by those who fought it—gives the reader some idea of what it was like to be part of a war when two states were ripped apart but a nation was made. Southern is the executive director of the North Carolina Writers' Network and a lifelong Carolinian.

Bill Brooks has published 21 novels with major publishers, including Harper Collins, Dell, Tor/Forge, Kensington, M. Evans, Walker & Co., Zebra and Pinnacle. He is currently writing his next novel for Leisure Books and a collection of poetry. Bill has conducted a plethora of successful workshops throughout the U.S., including the famed Chautauqua Institute and Writers of the Flathead Montana. His highly informative nuts and bolts writing workshops have helped dozens of writers realize their dreams of becoming published.
Bill?s teaching philosophy is straightforward and practical. As he likes to point out, ?If there?s a problem with your car, you take it to a mechanic. If you?re sick, you seek a physician. Rhoades and Alexandra Sokoloff on the topic of "How to Publish a Book, How to Get a Literary Agent." This event is free to attend, and newcomers are welcome. Alexandra and J.D. are published with major New York publisher St. Martin's Press and are represented by Trident Media Group. We're going to get to the bottom of the publishing mystery regarding how to write a book that wins the acceptance of a major literary agent and the support of a publisher like St. Martin's Press. On Saturday May 19, 2007 at 3:00 PM, we will hold our second Charlotte Write to Publish Group meeting in Francis Auditorium at the Main Branch of the Charlotte Public Library located at 310 N. Tryon Street, 28202. The meeting will take place as a moderated panel discussion with 3-5 experts in the field of self-publishing. We will discuss editing, cover art, book distribution and marketing on a budget. Newcomers are welcome, and there will be a Q&A for you to ask any questions about getting your book published. Hi everyone, I have started a new Meetup for creative talent in Raleigh, the "Triangle Film, Television, and Actors Meetup." We're looking for writers, actors, and people interested in working behind the camera on both a television show (to air on the Raleigh Television Network) and feature films. Newcomers are welcome. We will be shooting our television show at RTN Studios in downtown Raleigh, and our plan is to meet the last Friday of the month at Cameron Village Public Library for organizational purposes.
