Hi, Gillian here, I will be at the Canon's Gate downstairs bar from 6.45pm onwards and for means of identification I will be bringing the now infamous and somewhat conspicuous big book! So just look for me when you arrive.

What to expect?

The meetings themselves have always been free from any particular agenda and this is due, in part, to the fact that no-one particularly wanted to take on the role of "big brother"and dictate the topic for the night, and partly to allow for a more natural and social environment. The conversations tend to revolve around interests, genre's, ideas and process and due to the diversity of members and experience - there's usually the opportunity to share advice and ideas regarding publishing, style, content etc. However, the group also provides the opportunity to develop or present work in progress through an additional forum site: http://talltalesmeetu... where you can post work and get some feedback (and retain your anonymity...if you feel shy at all).

The night is held at 7pm in the Canon's Gate (the red-and-black pub with gold lettering in the lower end of the Royal Mile, just down a bit on the same side as Ragamuffin).

So I look forward to seeing you there...

Cheerio for now...

Gillian

Yeah, good meeting. Structure worked well, nice diverse crowd, meeting flowed well. Where are the story posts?

    •  Another great one. The new structure provided for some good discussions and readings, before getting down to the "usual" end of evening activity.
    •  It was good to meet people and get a chance to hear a bit of what they're writing. I think the format, as it was last night, is fine - everybody has plenty of chance to contribute; there's time for people to read their work without it turning int a reading marathon, and I liked the way people could throw in things they weren't sure about in their work (as Gillian did) and ask for feedback. You're doing a great job, Gillian!

This was a very successful meetup. Everyone had the opportunity to speak and share their work and ideas.
    •  A really successful night, structure worked well, and a great turn out of nice, enthusiastic folk with diverse interests, work and experience. Look out for a more detailed account in the next few days and meantime thanks again to all - new, newer and regular!
