I write children's historical fiction and non-fiction, mostly about horses. I have a AAS degree in equine tech and have worked in the horse industry for about 30 yrs.
Two historical fiction books, Pale as the Moon and An Independent Spirit (Faithful Publishing 2006) and The Book of Miniature Horses (Lyons Press 2005) The Book of Draft Horses (Lyons Press 2007) The Book of Mules coming soon.
www.donnacampbellsmith.com includes synopsis of my books, ordering info, events calendar, and info on my school author visits and writer-in-resident program.
I enjoy both historical fiction and non-fiction. Non-ficiton pays better, fiction is more fun.
Just finished The Book of Mules, which will be released in 08 by the Lyons Press. I am also working on a novel and marketing another children's book. I am always working on various articles.
"A perk to writing for children is doing school visits. My two books are set in colonial NC, and are used as supplemental reading in fourth grade social studies. If you are a teacher or media specialist contact me for info on my author visits."
