Publishing Panel Discussion at Quail Ridge Books

“ I would have liked a little more time for the panel to share their thoughts by having pre-submitted ?'s by audience members written on cards (with maybe 10 chosen by the moderator of the discussion, rather than by raising of hands. . .so often when the audience is given the opportunity to ask a ?, they forget that a ? begins with Who, What, When, Where, Why, or How; instead voicing a comment, irrelevant to most in the audience, taking up valuable time. While it's not the moderator's fault, perhaps explaining to the audience that a panel discussion regarding publication options is not a 'workshop' on writing. A vast majority of people have been told, "You should write a book," it doesn't mean we all have the tools to do so. Having ?'s delivered the without being screened places the panel members on the spot. Of course, it's always easy to play Monday morning quarterback. Just a couple suggestions for future meet-ups.
