Full house for this meeting with at least twenty. The submissions were again varied and very entertaining. Keep it up. Even came up with an idea for submission for next month.

I won't be able to make it to the meetup. Unfortunately some stuff came up at home that I need to take care of. I'm really hoping to make it to the next one though. I hope everyone has an interesting great time. Dave McNicholas

I'm a brand new writer and I'm currently working on a novel. I'm excited to meet the different writers in Philadelphia so I can discuss craft, format, and just network with all around great people.

Is there a set of stories we're supposed to read for the next meetup? Help!

I'm hoping to make it this time, it also will be my first. Can you give me a general idea of how it works? Do we bring something short to read aloud, or is it mostly a discussion group? And about how long does it usually last? Hope to see everyone... Dave McNicholas

My very first meeting appeared to be everything I wanted it to be to further help me become an author.
    •  I think Julius did a very good job and had some very practical exercises. I don't think some of the attendees grasped what the purpose of the exercise was. The meeting place was tolerable with the size of the group but the music made it difficult to hear. I can't really complain, though, because it is difficult to find a place for groups to meet for free. For the members who read this, if you don't understand the purpose of an exercise, don't hesitate to ask. This is part of the learning curve of a writer. Mike D.
    •  Crowded but always entertaining and useful.
    •  I had an awesome time there. Yesterday was my first Philadelphia Writers meet up. Everyone was so nice and they made me feel welcomed. We did creative exercises, critiqued writer's submissions and networked. It was a very positive experience and I look forward to the next meeting in August....
    •  Arriving a half-hour late, I missed hearing the introductions and introducing myself. I found the discussions fascinating, although I was a little puzzled to hear talk about 'hyper-surrealism,' which, for the life of me, I can't figure out. I was reminded, a bit, of that scene in the old film, The Third Man, where Holly, the main character, who made his precarious living writing pulp Westerns in the USA, try to talk to an audience of post-war German intellectuals, and was unable to define what the 'stream of consciousness motivation of his secondary characters' were. Ah, well, next time I'll arrive on time, or early. Who, within the membership, also publishes in the context of the Kindle e-book? How does one get a story or chapter of his published book reviewed by the membership? I have an interesting re-telling of an old Sufi teaching story that is amusing ... or perhaps a middle chapter out of the life of Thomas Q. Cattus.
