10th ANNUAL NASHVILLE SCREENWRITERS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES MORE PANELISTS AND SCREENINGS

Nashville, Tennessee--In a city filled with creative talent, Nashville provides the ideal setting for the Tenth Annual Nashville Screenwriters Conference (NSC) on May 30- June 1, 2008 at the historic downtown Union Station Hotel. The highly acclaimed and open-to-the-public event brings Hollywood's top writers to Nashville, providing aspiring screenwriters and individuals interested in film and TV the chance to network, learn and explore professional opportunities within these industries. It's no surprise, with an event held in Music City, that one of the most popular panels is the "Music in the Movies" luncheon. This year's luncheon, scheduled for Saturday, May 31 at 12 p.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame's Ford Theatre, will again offer aspiring songwriters, composers and artists advice on how to get their music placed in films and TV, as well as provide the opportunity to actually submit songs for placement in seven upcoming movies. Hosted by Music Supervisor, Anastasia Brown (Oscar-nominated for "Best Original Song," August Rush and Spielberg's Taken), this year's panelists include Music Supervisor, Julia Michels (Sex and the City and Devil Wears Prada), New Line Cinema's Music Executive, Erin Scully (Sex and the City and The Notebook), Music Supervisor, Julianne Jordan (Fool's Gold and The Italian Job), Disney's Music Executive, Kaylin Frank (Man on the Moon and Sliding Doors) and Music Supervisor, Howard Parr (Miss Match and Party Monster). "My panelists flying in from L.A. this year are fans of the talent in Nashville and truly expect to find great songs for their projects," says Brown. "Pitching for film & TV without this kind of opportunity is like throwing darts at a target blindfolded." "Music in the Movies" luncheon tickets are limited and sell out fast but will be available a la carte for $40.

The NSC music luncheon has brought success for several attendees in the past such as Steve Diamond, a Nashville songwriter. Diamond attended a previous music panel at NSC and learned that Santa Claus 2 needed a love song. As an attendee of the luncheon, he was able to submit a song that was ultimately chosen to be included in the film. Lucas Reynolds, member of the band Blue Merle and an NSC attendee, was able to get a feel for the tempo, the angst of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in August Rush and wrote one of the most important original songs in the film, "Something Inside."

Nashville Screenwriters Conference 2008 will also feature an advance screening of two episodes of the new HBO Films miniseries Generation Killon Friday, May 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame's Ford Theatre and will be followed by an intimate musical performance inspired by the themes of the new miniseries.

Generation Kill was written by David Simon and Ed Burns, the creators of The Wire and Rolling Stone journalist Evan Wright, based on his book, also titled Generation Kill. Simon, Burns, Wright and their military adviser who also had a role in the show, Eric Kocher, will be on hand to discuss the film and participate in a rapid fire Q&A at the first panel slated for Saturday morning.

The Tenth Annual NSC will also include writers and producers from ABC's hit show, Grey's Anatomy. Scott Frank (Minority Report and Get Shorty), Ted Griffin (Matchstick Men and Ocean's Eleven), Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (3:10 to Yuma and 2 Fast 2 Furious), Steve Nicolaides (School of Rock, A Few Good Men, Misery and When Harry Met Sally), are some of the weekend's panelists, as well.

As part of a special, half-day panel on Friday, May 30 at 1 p.m., screenwriter Larry Wilson (Beetlejuice and The Addams Family) will offer a 3-hour workshop entitled, "Method to Madness," where he will lead attendees in several fantasy and horror-writing sessions and give "The World's Fastest Screenwriting Course," a quick overview of script structure. (All panelists are subject to change.)
