Lynn Crain revealed this point at this month Cactus Rose Romance Writers Meeting,that it is also the secret to a great books’ success. Like a good pick up line,all victory is riding on that opening sentence;you have to captive your readers. Lynn said first lines should be“clever, thought-provoking, draw the reader into unfamiliar world, bring a smile to their face, poignant, setup a mystery, use words in a beautiful or wonderful way, or introduce a character".However, unlike a pick-up line, Lynn emphasizes that your book should end with a satisfactory conclusion for your reader. She says,“The end should wrap it up, if it’s a series, end with a cliff hanger, solve the mystery, give the love story a happy ending, and always make the reader want more.” Wow, that’s the guy I want to meet! ”
