Introduction:

"I am a professional writer and editor, retired now at age 76, but I am still involved in both disciplines. I spent 50 years at the Los Angeles Times, the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Asahi Shimbun in Tokyo. One book, two others in progress. "

What inspires your writing?

"Someone wants to read it."

What genre, or area of expertise, is your writing?

"Nonfiction, mostly Japanese history, travel and culture but also naval history and odds and ends for the amusement of friends on both sides of the Pacific."

Who is your favorite author?

"Most of my favorites are dead."
